Green Shoes and Buttoned Seats – Saturday in Design
We’re winding down now and feeling a little tired on our trek back and forth across Sydney for Saturday in Design. Our next stop was Warehouse 625 which was an empty warehouse that had been converted into a funky showroom housing six companies. The place was pumping.

Bathe and Hansgrohe were showcasing their tap and bathroomware, Ilve had their ovens and cooktops, Interstudio had brightly coloured stools, Ontera Modular Carpets were reusing and recylcing carpet, Porters Paints had wallpaper by Catherine Martin, Classique had beautiful outdoor furniture, Studio Bagno had stunning bathroomware and Warwick Fabrics had their new collections on display. But the piece de la resistance had to be that amazing installation hanging from the ceiling over the stairwell. All those green shoes. How clever.

Back in the bus and up the hill to Gelosa who were also hosting Brisbane firm Comax. I love these Lola chairs and the many takes they have on them.

Laminex were also there. Hasn’t laminate come along way? Beautiful colours and fantastic decorative patterns for any situation.

And then we jumped a taxi and headed down to Darlinghurst to visit Mico and Stylecraft. The installation at Stylecraft was amazing. It was called “Binding The Senses” and was made of ring binders all interlocked together.

One more stop for the day, one last taxi ride, one last look around. “Hooray” say the feet. “Thank Goodness” says the head.
Black Taps at Saturday in Design
My first stop on Saturday in Design was Reece Bathroom Life in Surry Hills. They were serving breakfast which made me get up and out of bed early, something designers don’t like to do by the absence of people at 9am. I did manage to talk a couple of friends into meeting me there so we could enjoy the day together. After salmon bagels, cream cheese filled crepes, friands and coffee, we walked around the showroom and admired the new tap ranges.

One that caught my eye was the new Liscio range from Phoenix. It has bold lines and soft corners and is available in bright shiny chrome but also in matte black. The range is very stylish and the matte black is a nice change. Very stunning with white basins and tiles. The modern square shape is also a nice design feature.
We then moved next door to Poliform. They do beautiful furniture and cabinets and I’ve been lusting after a Poliform walk-in wardrobe for years. Who wouldn’t?

Their kitchens aren’t bad either.

Miele were demonstrating their induction cooktops and we all entered the draw for a new 6kg 6 star rated condensor drier but I haven’t received the call yet.
