About Me – Jennifer French
I am an Interior Decorator and Colour Consultant with my own business in Sydney, Australia. Originally from Brisbane and having lived abroad in the Solomon Islands and Hong Kong, I learnt that to quickly settle into a new house you need to make it a home. On this site, I will reveal my thoughts, inspirations and discoveries on all sorts of topics that are dear to me – interiors, colours, homewares, renovations, art, completed works and family.
I am often asked “What’s your decorating style?” I find this a very difficult one to answer. Actually when I’m working for a client, it doesn’t really matter what my style is as it’s not my home I’m decorating. However, in my own home I have problems. Before studying Interior Decorating I could easily answer “Traditional with a twist.” But since starting my own business and working with so many different clients, I have been exposed to so much variety. I love it all which is why I take forever to come to a decision in my own home. The one thing I must have is colour. I love how colour evokes so many memories and emotions. I also like quirky artwork or objects and things that have a history. It doesn’t have to be ancient history just something that makes you remember a different time or place or person.
I hope you enjoy your time with me and you are inspired to create your own harmonious environment. I would love to hear your comments, feedback or questions and look forward to your company.

Jen, we found that you were writing a little about our institution. When we looked it up and saw the photo – we thought – wow – we have not seen that front window looking like that for quite some time. Anyway – the photo you have of the Hopetoun Tea Rooms – window – is extremely old. We have since made a big IMPACT to the Block Arcade – since taking it over – and our window – is tirelessly set-up and then dismantled by our dedicated team of pastry professionals. Just letting you know – as we do wish your followers – could see the REAL Hopetoun Tea Rooms..
Regards
Hopetoun Tea Rooms
I was kicking myself that I didn’t take a photo myself of all those yummy cakes and pastries. Everyone MUST see your beautiful tea rooms and if possible share in your delectable delights.
Hi Jennifer, thanks for visiting me at Georgica Pond. Lovely to hear from you. I’m so excited about your trip to the US. If you want any tips for interiors, decorating shops and places you MUST see, let me know. I’m more than happy to share the love. Bringing back my spoils was a HUGE problem. I had an extra 20 kg of luggage I could have filled up but was so anxious about getting through customs that I didn’t use it all up. The problems is, how do you make $10,000 look like $800? I don’t know. I should have bought so much more, ie lights, linen, taps etc and stuff that you just can’t get here, but I kept hearing horror stories about people getting caught at customs that it spoiled it for me. I got through with my loot no problem, but of course now I’m kicking myself wishing I had bought more. I am now frantically trying to buy stuff online that I saw in the US and paying ridiculous prices for freight when I should have bought it there. My advice, if you see it and you love it then buy it. You will pay about 10-20% tax at customs or get off with a warning at worst. But it’s worth it. We are so limited with beautiful classic American style products here, that I wish I had bought more. Email me if you want a list of must see shops.
